An evening lecture with Helga Weisz, expert in climate and sustainability research

22nd May 2025 – 17:00-19:00
Eurac Research – Conference Hall

How can tourism become more climate-friendly? This question lies at the heart of the work of Helga Weisz, internationally renowned expert in climate and sustainability research. In her lecture, she will explore viable strategies for sustainable tourism while also critically examining alleged approaches that may, in fact, hinder efforts to address the climate crisis.

Following the lecture, a panel discussion will delve into concrete lessons and actionable strategies for the South Tyrolean context. Joining Helga Weisz and moderator Harald Pechlaner are:

  • Raffael Mooswalder, Director of the South Tyrol Hoteliers Association (HGV)
  • Stefanie Prieth, Destination Manager, IDM South Tyrol
  • Thomas Gruber, Corporate Sustainability Manager, “Sustainable Innovation & ESG”, Michaeler & Partner
  • Kurt Resch, Manager, Bio & Bike Hotel “Steineggerhof”, Steinegg

We invite stakeholders from politics, business, academia, and civil society to reflect on the future of tourism in a warming world – and to engage in meaningful dialogue.
